A Legion of Angels

Starting next week I am going to be blogging on a weekly basis telling the story of Eternal Threads and the women we serve. Their stories are amazing!! I hope you will follow the blog and share with others.

Today, however, I am compelled to talk about the crisis in the Middle East that is of monumental proportions. Christians and other minorities are being persecuted and murdered (one every 10 minutes is the statistic). In Iraq, Yazidi women and girls (as young as 8 yrs old) are being captured, raped repeatedly and sold in slave markets. I’m writing this because I cannot stand by and be silent in the face of this kind of brutality and evil. If you are part of the Eternal Threads community, I have a feeling you feel the same way.

I don’t always talk about my personal faith that compelled me to found Eternal Threads, but I think it’s important that we share what gives us HOPE and why we believe that what we do makes a difference.

I have been praying recently for a Legion of angels to rescue the Yazidi girls from horrors that most of us can’t even begin to imagine. A Legion of Gabriel’s if you will, with flashing swords to rescue them and set the world right again. That is my prayer, but I also know that we are meant to be the Legion!!

You know, there are Gabriel’s in Iraq. I’ve been privileged to hear firsthand accounts of Iraqi Christians risking and losing their lives to rescue these girls and others. Anything we do might pale in comparison to their sacrifice, but I cannot have it on my conscience that I have not stood up, spoken out and done whatever can be done.

We hope to do that by raising awareness, but Eternal Threads is also launching a campaign with our community of supporters to help provide immediate assistance to displaced people in desperate need.

We’ve set a goal of $25,000 by October 1st. You can link here to share in this effort. I hope you can. $25 given by a 1000 donors reaches our goal and asking 5 of their friends to do the same magnifies that goal substantially.

All donated funds will be distributed to The Cradle Fund who is providing immediate humanitarian assistance.

I recommend reading “Defying ISIS” by Johnnie Moore who was a co-founder of The Cradle Fund. I will be posting another blog in a few days. Please share these blogs with others…we can be that Legion.
