Rosemary’s Baskets

Oct 7
2015

Two of our Eternal Threads’ partners are single women making a difference in the lives of others through commitment and hardship. Rafiatu in Ghana whose story I told last week and Rosemary in Jinja, Uganda. We love to tell their stories because they are part of our team! When the phone rings at the office and it is Rosemary or Rafiatu we are excited because we have a relationship with them.  They aren’t just a source of products.

RosemaryRosemary was born into a family of four children whose father died when they were young.  Her mother raised the family as a single mother until she had a stroke and was unable to care for the them.  At the age of 20, she became the head of the family and caretaker of her younger siblings.  Her dream to finish university had to be put on hold because she was determined to make it possible for her brother and all of her sisters to finish school.  She knows they must have an education to have any hope of a future.

Rosemary's family

Rosemary has been providing for her family, paying medical bills and school fees from the money she receives from her amazing basket making skills.

Rosemary

Eternal Threads has been importing these baskets for the last five years. Every purchase of one of Rosemary’s baskets is helping her care for her family’s needs. Because of our generous donors Eternal Threads is also able to help pay school fees when we aren’t able to sell enough of her baskets. Last year we helped her rent a shop space in Jinja so that she could sell her products locally.

Rosemaryshop

Rosemary’s words tell you what your support means to her.

“The money that you send me for the baskets helps my family a lot. I thank you so much for your kindness to me and my family otherwise I do not know where we would be right now.”

SHOP for Rosemary’s baskets or DONATE to help us help women like Rosemary and Rafiatu with their businesses.

Gratefully,

Linda
